HPM Building Supply Builds Homes During National Volunteer Week

On Saturday, April 27th, 2024, volunteers from HPM Building Supply gathered at the Kaua`i Habitat for Humanity jobsite in Waimea to celebrate National Volunteer Week. What a better way for the Partner Level Sponsor to recognize the week than by spending the day building homes, communities and hope with the nonprofit? HPM Building Supply has a long history of supporting affordable housing on island and has partnered with Kauai Habitat many times over the years in their mission to provide affordable housing to the families on Kauai.

National Volunteer Week, April 21-27, 2024, is a week that recognizes and celebrates the contributions made by volunteers. At Kauai Habitat volunteers have been an integral part of the construction of 239 completed homes on island with more under construction. The week of recognition was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer work projects and special events throughout the week.

“This is a great way to celebrate National Volunteer Week,” stated Kauai Habitat Volunteer Program Manager Nicole Pacanas, prior to the start of the build day. “It will be a great way for our donors, homebuyers and volunteers to all work together and it’s especially great that it’s during National Volunteer Week.”

HPM Building Supply is a member of Kauai Habitat’s Builders Guild House Sponsorship Program. Membership in this program allows sponsors to make a meaningful difference in our community by enabling ongoing success through gifts of subdivision or house sponsorships. Members of the Guild are offered a team building day as part of their partnership and HPM Building Supply chose to utilize their team build day during National Volunteer Week to celebrate and raise awareness of all the amazing contributions made by volunteers.

“Build days like these are especially rewarding for partner sponsors like HPM Building Supply, who have invested in our mission,” shared the newest member of the Kauai Habitat for Humanity team, Director of Resource Development, Christina Ahia-Schimmelfennig. “It gives them an opportunity to see exactly where their investment is going and work alongside the families they are helping.”

“Weeks like National Volunteer Week are so important to organizations like ours,” continued Ahia-Schimmelfennig. “It gives us a reminder to acknowledge just how special volunteers are and look at how big of an impact they make in our community. Just on Kauai alone and just with our nonprofit volunteers have helped nearly 240 families build an affordable home that will forever change their lives.”
