Community in Action: Mahalo to Our Local Volunteer Groups

Kaua‘i Board of Realtors

At Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity, our work to build safe, affordable homes for local families depends on more than lumber, nails, and blueprints. It depends on people. Neighbors helping neighbors, organizations giving their time, and community members who believe in the power of working together.

We are incredibly grateful for the many local volunteer groups that support our mission throughout the year. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and willingness to lend a hand make a meaningful difference for our organization and for families across Kaua‘i.

One group that has been a consistent and valued partner is the Kaua‘i Board of Realtors (KBR). Several times a year, KBR members organize volunteer teams to support our work, bringing energy and teamwork to projects that help keep our operations running smoothly. Most recently, KBR volunteers spent time at the Kaua‘i Habitat ReStore, helping price donations, organize merchandise, and stock shelves. Their efforts help ensure that the ReStore remains welcoming, organized, and ready for shoppers looking for great deals while supporting a great cause.

Another wonderful example of community spirit came from the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i, who recently celebrated International Women’s Day by volunteering with us. Zonta members rolled up their sleeves and joined our team at the ReStore, assisting with sorting, pricing, organizing, and stocking donated items. Their volunteer day was a powerful way to celebrate the impact of women working together to strengthen our community.

The work done by volunteers at the ReStore is incredibly important to our mission. Every item that is priced, organized, and placed on the sales floor helps generate funding for Kaua‘i Habitat’s affordable housing projects. Those proceeds go directly toward building and repairing homes for local families who need a safe, stable place to live.

Beyond the practical impact, volunteer days like these remind us how fortunate we are to live in a community where people step forward to help others. Whether they are lifting furniture, sorting donations, or helping customers find the perfect item, our volunteers play a vital role in turning generosity into opportunity.

To the members of the Kaua‘i Board of Realtors, the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i, and all the local organizations that share their time and talents with us, mahalo nui loa. Your support helps build homes, strengthen families, and create a brighter future for our island.

If your organization, workplace, or community group would like to volunteer with Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity, we would love to welcome you. Together, we can continue building homes, communities, and hope right here on Kaua‘i.
