10 Apr Celebrating the Heart of Our Mission: Global Volunteer Month & Volunteer Appreciation Week
At Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity, our work is only possible because of one incredible force—our volunteers.
Every April, we join organizations around the world in celebrating Global Volunteer Month, a time dedicated to honoring the individuals who give their time, talent, and heart to strengthen communities everywhere. This month-long observance recognizes that volunteers are truly the heartbeat of thriving, connected communities.
Throughout the month, people across the globe are encouraged not only to celebrate volunteers, but to take action—because every act of service, big or small, helps build a stronger world.
A Special Time to Say Mahalo
Within Global Volunteer Month, we also celebrate National Volunteer Week (April 19–25, 2026)—a time specifically set aside to recognize and thank volunteers for the impact they make every day.
Since 1974, this week has been a powerful reminder that volunteers are essential in tackling our communities’ greatest challenges and creating meaningful, lasting change.
At Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity, this couldn’t be more true.
Volunteers Build More Than Homes
Our volunteers do far more than swing hammers—they build hope, stability, and opportunity.
From construction sites to our ReStore, from organizing donations to supporting events, volunteers are woven into every part of our mission. They help create safe, affordable housing for local families and ensure our programs continue to serve those who need them most.
Their impact goes beyond the physical structures we build. Volunteers create connections, strengthen neighborhoods, and embody the spirit of aloha that makes Kaua‘i so special.
The Power of Service
Global Volunteer Month reminds us that volunteering is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. Across the world, millions of individuals dedicate their time and energy to causes they care about proving that service is a driving force for stronger, more resilient communities.
And here on Kaua‘i, we see that power in action every single day.
Whether it’s a returning volunteer who has supported us for years or someone stepping onto a build site for the very first time, each person plays a vital role in helping us move our mission forward.
To Our Volunteers: Mahalo Nui Loa
To every individual, group, and organization that has volunteered with Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity—mahalo nui loa.
Your time, your energy, and your willingness to serve make a lasting difference in the lives of local families. You are the reason we can continue building homes, communities, and hope across our island.
This month—and every month—we celebrate you.
Join the Movement
Global Volunteer Month is also an invitation. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, there’s no better time.
Volunteering doesn’t just change lives—it connects us, strengthens our community, and reminds us of what’s possible when we come together.
We invite you to be part of that impact.
