11 May Visiting AmeriCorps
It was a nice treat to have Megan Gilbert volunteering at our affiliate for a few days. Megan is an AmeriCorps service member currently serving as a Construction Crew Leader at the Maui affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. AmeriCorps offers its service members the opportunity to visit other affiliates to gain more knowledge of the organizations and communities they serve. Megan will be volunteering in many capacities with Kaua’i Habitat as a way to learn what visiting volunteers can expect when traveling to different affiliates throughout the island. This experience will benefit her greatly as her next scheduled AmeriCorps term will take her to Colorado to serve as a Volunteer Coordinator at the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver. We are thrilled that she will be an ambassador of our Travel & Build Program while there and be able to share a first hand account of what it is like to volunteer with us.
