Rotary Club Builds Homes and Hope

On Saturday, October 27th, over 25 Rotarians and friends of the Rotary Club of Poipu Beach volunteered to work alongside Habitat staff, homebuyers and other community volunteers in our ‘Ele’ele Iluna subdivision. The group worked on three homes painting, building a porch and installing soffits. On top of volunteering their services the Rotarians were tasked with nominating a worthy service provider to receive a $10,000 grant from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, in which they nominated Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity.

Kaua’i Habitat Deputy Director and Rotary Club Past President Milani Pimental stated that “Kaua’i Habitat is so grateful for this grant and will use the funds to support our Family Services Department in providing financial coaching, group and one-on-one training meeting with low-income homebuyer applicants to assist them throughout the process of the self-help program at Habitat.”

By working in partnership with trusted local organizations like Rotary, the Habitat program through funding from USDA Rural Development helps very-low and low-income families build affordable and safe homes of their own on Kaua’i.
