PAID Internship Available to Hawai`i Students

The California Coalition for Rural Housing (CCRH) has announced its 27th Annual PAID Diversity Internship in Nonprofit Housing and Community Development for Hawai‘i students. They are offering the internship opportunities in Hawai’i through a partnership with the Hau‘oli Mau Loa Foundation and The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. Interns will learn about affordable housing development by interning at either Catholic Charities Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization located on O’ahu, or Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity LLC located on Kaua’i.

This internship program, open to all majors, has helped jump-start promising careers in affordable housing and community development for historically underrepresented and traditionally marginalized undergraduate students.

CCRH’s internship program gives high priority to students entering their last year of undergraduate studies at four-year universities and recent college graduates so that upon graduating from college, they may be able to be employed in entry-level professional positions in the field. Community leaders and community college students in their last year of studies are also considered.  Preference is given to applicants who have graduated from a Hawai‘i high school, have lived experience related to affordable housing, and are either from rural, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, historically underrepresented, or low-income backgrounds, and to those who demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life of low-income, rural, and Native Hawaiian communities. The program requires a full-year commitment, full-time summer (40 hours a week), and part-time during the academic year (16-20 hours a week).

CCRH is a reputable non-profit housing advocacy organization that in addition to advancing Affordable Housing opportunities for low-income communities, for the past 26 years, CCRH has also increased diversity in the affordable housing and community development field via their award-winning internship program.

Linked HERE is the student application. The priority deadline to apply is April 5th, 2024. Submittals require a completed application, a resume, a statement of purpose, a copy of unofficial transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.
