We are thrilled to announce the newest President of our Board of Directors. Leona Sa McDermott has been named the newest Board President of Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity. Leona, lovingly referred to as Ona, began her relationship with Kaua’i Habitat when she herself started the path to home ownership in 2013. Knowing first hand the importance of owning a home, Ona became passionate about the process of providing families on Kaua’i a way to achieve self reliance and stability. Once construction was completed on her home she offered to continue helping the organization in any way she could. Shortly thereafter the need for an organized secretary on the board presented itself. Ona’s organizational skills as well as her service to the community made her an ideal candidate for the position. She agreed to come on board as a way of giving back to the community that she loves. Since then she has been extremely valuable to Kaua’i Habitat. Being a local girl on island made it easier for many of the families in need of Kaua’i Habitat services to reach out for assistance. She has a caring and compassionate nature that makes the community we serve comfortable and helps eliminate the fear of tackling such a daunting task as building your own home. Congratulations Ona! We are so proud to have you as our Board President.
