23 Jul Dreams Do Come True
For William and Blossom, becoming homeowners had been a dream and a work in progress for years. They had been renters their entire lives and desperately wanted the safety and security that owning a home can provide. Living in the highest housing market in the nation, finding opportunities to purchase a home the couple could afford seemed impossible, but they never lost hope. Blossom recalled, “I never gave up because I knew someone would answer my prayers.” Sure enough, the opportunity to partner with Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity to build their own home finally became a reality.
William and Blossom went to work doing everything necessary to make their dream come true. As a retiree, William spent almost everyday on the jobsite helping out wherever he was needed. Working full-time, Blossom would come straight to the jobsite after working the graveyard shift at a local resort. Through it all the couple remained thankful and humble and say, “We just try and help out wherever we can. We all help each other out because we’re going to be neighbors for a long time to come.”
For William and Blossom the dream of owning their own home has finally come true. Looking to the future, they are excited to have a home to open up to their family and that they will have a legacy to pass down to generations to come. Forever grateful, William and Blossom continue to spread the word of Habitat to whoever will listen and bring hope to the thousands on island still desperately searching for a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.
