17 May Building Community
An amazing display of community occurred yesterday! The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, Lihue Clubhouse received a significant donation from Pure Storage to update their facilities. This financial donation was followed by a work day for employees of Pure Storage to give of their time in addition to the donation. On Thursday, May 16, 2019, around 200 volunteers arrived in three busloads at the Clubhouse to get busy doing multiple improvement projects. Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity offered to help organize and supervise the volunteers as a way to contribute to this special gift to our community. Members of Kaua’i Habitat’s staff as well as some of it’s homeowners also showed up to offer volunteer support. It was a whirlwind of activity as the large group began tackling the many projects and the results came quickly. Some of the projects included interior/exterior painting, building picnic tables, creating additional seating/shelving and landscaping. It was truly amazing and inspiring to see so many people getting so much done for our community. After the work day was completed, Pure Storage had one more surprise up their sleeve. After all the work they had done for the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, they then presented Kaua’i Habitat for Humanity with a $10,000 donation! The financial gift was a complete surprise and will benefit even more members of our community.
