Give Aloha

GiveAloha%20LogoIt’s time for ‘Give Aloha’, Foodland’s annual community matching gifts program. This program honors Foodland’s founder, Maurice J. “Sully” Sullivan, and his legacy of giving back to the community. From September 1-30, you can make a donation up to $249 to Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity at the Waipouli Foodland and Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will match a portion of the donation. It’s a great way to make your donation dollar go farther.

Welcome AmeriCorps!

IMG_3222Join us in welcoming the newest members of the Kaua‘i Habitat ‘ohana! Jared Holt, Jillian Konoshima and Kaitlyn Paiton come to us as AmeriCorps volunteers and will spend 10 1/2 months serving the community of  Kaua‘i by building homes and hope with Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity. We have just met these AmeriCorps members and are already impressed with their experience, enthusiasm and friendly outgoing personalities.

This is Jillian’s second year serving as an AmeriCorps member with Habitat for Humanity. She previously worked with an affiliate in Dallas, Texas, and loved working with the partner families and giving back to the community.

Kaitlyn was born and raised in Maine and recently received her degree from Roanoke College in Virginia. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity throughout her four years of college and absolutely loved it. She’s looking forward to her time as an AmeriCorps member and hopes to gain a lot of knowledge in construction while helping our local families.

Jared is from Biloxi, Mississippi. He began serving as an AmeriCorps member working with the Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast soon after receiving his degree from the University of Mississippi in 2015.

We are truly looking forward to spending the next 10 1/2 months working along side these giving individuals and watching them experience the Garden Island and all the beauty and aloha our community has to offer.
