Earth Day!

Hands on a globeWhat are your plans for Earth Day! The 45th Anniversary of Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22, 2015. There are many ways to honor and respect the earth on this day. One way is to support our ReStore®! ReStore® promotes recycling by preventing thousands of items from entering our landfills each year! Every time you make a purchase at Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity ReStore® you are not only helping to build homes and hope for those in need, but you are also preventing waste. Stay tuned as we bring you statistics over the next few weeks of just how many items have been recycled and reused thanks to our ReStore®!

A Word From A Volunteer

volunteerIt’s always great to hear feedback from our volunteers. It’s nice to get an idea of how their experience volunteering with Kaua‘i Habitat went and what volunteering means to them. Recently, Claire Anderson visited our Island to volunteer with a Global Village group. Claire works as a Volunteer Coordinator with the Austin, TX affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. Upon returning to work she wrote a blog regarding her visit and experience. I wanted to share her experience with you. It’s a great example of what working with the families of Kaua‘i means to our volunteers, and what our volunteers mean to our homeowners.

Mahalo Global Village Team 15045

IMG_4582The time has come to say goodbye to a wonderful group of people. This latest Global Village team led by Jan Roberta has been nothing but inspirational. They raised money for our organization, came to Kaua‘i to work on homes for our community, and kept us smiling along the way. We gathered this week at St. Johns Church in ‘Ele‘ele to say mahalo for all the hard work and support they have given us. A special gold hard hat was presented to team leader Jan Roberta as a way for us to express our gratitude for all the work she has done leading three teams this year.  Mahalo Jan Roberta and team #15045!IMG_0214
