The Sony Open in Hawai‘i is the signature fundraising event for Friends of Hawai‘i Charities, Inc., which benefits more than 170 local charities. The all-volunteer Friends of Hawai‘i Charities organization announced that it will distribute a record $1,070,000 this month to non-profits around the state. The recipients are community based, non-profit organizations which operate programs for Hawai‘i’s children, women, elderly and it’s impoverish. This is the tenth consecutive year that the Sony Open successfully reached it’s goal of raising a million dollars. The success is attributed to the significant, long-time charity partnership of The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc., which matches funds raised at the golf tournament dollar-for-dollar. Thank you Friends of Charities for all you do to help local non-profits in the state, and for sharing the information and photos.
