Kaua`i Habitat Dedicates Homes #112 and #113

Picture1On April 23rd, Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity held house dedication and key passing ceremonies for its 112th and 113th homes. Staff, volunteers, donors, government officials, family, and friends were present to celebrate the accomplishments of the Kaneholani and McDermott families who have completed their homes on Department of Hawaiian Homelands. ReStore® is located in Hanapēpē on Kaumuali‘i Highway, across from Salt Pond Country Store. The ReStore® entrance is adjacent to Kaua‘i Habitat’s main office.

Global Village Team Hard at Work

photo 1Once again #GlobalVillage Team Brute Force flexes their muscles by constructing the framing for the Eguchi Family home in Kekaha! The team worked to get the wall frames built in the #KauaiHabitat baseyard before erecting them at the worksite. Work continues and there will be more photos to come. what will your verb beRecently the Habitat for Humanity International CEO, Jonathan Reckford published an article asking people to consider what verb would best describe Habitat for Humanity. It was amazing to see how the list grew and grew when considering all of the things Habitat does. For example Habitat Builds, which is probably the one that most easily comes to mind.  Read the article and see some of the other answers readers came up with. Now apply it to yourself. WBWomen on Kaua‘i are invited to volunteer on May 11, 2014 during Habitat for Humanity’s seventh annual National Women Build Week. Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity is happy to be selected as an event site for the third year in a row and is one of more than 300 Habitat affiliates nationwide hosting Women Build projects with the support of Lowe’s, Habitat’s longtime partner in the event. National Women Build Week challenges women to devote at least one day to building simple, decent and affordable housing in their local communities. More than 52,000 women volunteers from all 50 states have participated in the previous years. #WomenBuild

IMG_8879They’re here!!! We couldn’t be happier welcoming Global Village Canada – Team Brute Force! This Canadian Team is led by Mara Petruzziello. She comes to us with a history of experience with #globalvillage and #kauaihabitat. A world traveler, philanthropist, and overall good person, Mara has participated in eight Global Village teams. This is her fourth time #volunteering here in Kaua‘i. While on Kaua`i the team will be working on new construction builds in Anahola and Kekaha.
