Over 20 women joined Kaua‘i Habitat for Lowe’s Women Build event May 5

Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity was proud to host its first Women Build event in Kekaha on Sat. May 5, 2012. The event was sponsored by Lowe’s, who is providing Kaua‘i Habitat for Humanity with a $5,000 Lowe’s store gift card in support of National Women Build Week.

Kaua‘i wahine volunteers worked hard to make critical roofing and exterior repairs to the Naka`ahiki family’s pre-‘Iniki home. The Women Build theme, “The Build Generation,” reflected the event’s goal to recruit and train women volunteers, as well as welcome the next generation of Habitat Women Builders – young women, ages 18-24 – to support Habitat’s mission to create affordable housing.
